FAQ

Common questions about how ModelQuoter works, what it costs, verification, and where it is available. Where something is limited or not built yet, it says so.

For homeowners

What does ModelQuoter cost a homeowner?

Nothing. Modeling a project, getting a planning estimate where the engine supports your trade and location, and receiving contractor bids are all free for homeowners.

Contractors pay a flat membership to take part. You are never charged a fee to be introduced to one, and we take no cut of what you pay your contractor.

How accurate is the planning estimate?

It is a planning range, not a quote. A deterministic pricing engine calculates it from the scope you confirm — no figure on the site is produced by an image model.

Treat it as the number that tells you whether a project is worth pursuing and whether a bid is in a sane range. The only price you can actually accept is a contractor’s bid.

Estimate coverage varies by trade and location. Where a project type is not yet calibrated for your area, you can still model it and request bids without a range.

Is the modeled image what I will actually get?

No. It is a modeled concept, not a construction plan, and it is labelled that way everywhere it appears.

The written scope you confirm — materials, measurements, and inclusions — is what drives the estimate and what contractors bid against. If the image shows something the scope does not, the scope is what counts.

How many bids will I get?

We do not promise a number. Your project is routed to contractors who match your city and trade, and how many respond depends on how many are active in your area.

Bids arrive with itemized scope so you can compare them line by line rather than on headline price alone.

Does ModelQuoter hold my project money?

No. ModelQuoter does not collect, hold, approve, release, or transfer project funds, and does not offer project financing. You pay your contractor directly under your own agreement with them.

We can help you document the accepted bid, milestones, photos, messages, and approvals. Those records do not replace a signed construction contract.

How project payments will work

What does “business details confirmed” mean?

It means we confirmed basic business information — name, contact, and registration — and nothing beyond that.

It is not a background check, and it is not a statement about licensing, insurance, workmanship, or safety. Confirm a contractor’s licence and insurance yourself, and sign your own agreement directly with them.

For contractors

How does ModelQuoter charge contractors?

One flat membership, billed monthly or annually in USD. There is no per-lead fee, nothing to unlock, and no auction for access — the contractors who match a project all see it.

The base membership covers one trade and up to three service cities. Extra trades and cities are optional recurring add-ons on the same billing cadence, and every paid trade applies in every paid city.

What is the no-lead refund guarantee?

If no qualified lead is delivered to you during a completed paid, lead-eligible month, that month is refunded. On an annual membership the qualifying month is a one-month slice from your annual service start, and the refund is one twelfth of the annual charge.

The review and the refund are handled by a person — it is not an automatic credit, and it is not a free month added to the end of your term. Email support@modelquoter.com to request a review.

A refund does not stop your renewal. If you do not want the next period to bill, cancel separately.

Are leads exclusive, and is any volume promised?

No to both. Coverage is not exclusive, and we do not promise lead volume in any area. Anyone claiming a guaranteed number of jobs is guessing.

What we do commit to is the refund above: a paid, lead-eligible month that produced nothing is a month you get back.

What does business verification involve?

We confirm that the business is real and that you control it — a registry record, ownership of the public listing, and a call to the number published on it.

Verification has to clear before lead details and bidding open. Building your profile, quoting your own customers, and running projects are available while it is in review.

What happens in the off-season?

Monthly members may be offered a winter hold between November and March, in the cancellation flow, at a reduced flat monthly rate. It runs for up to four months and can start once in a rolling twelve-month period.

While it is on, your own-customer tools stay available; marketplace leads, bidding, and no-lead refund eligibility pause. Annual membership already includes months at no additional cost and is not eligible for an additional hold.

Can I cancel whenever I want?

Yes. Membership renews until you cancel, and cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not erase access you have already paid for in the current period.

About ModelQuoter

Where does ModelQuoter work?

We accept project planning across Canada and the United States. Contractor matching, estimate coverage, and payment features switch on by trade and location rather than everywhere at once, so the site tells you what is available for your project after you enter a location and project type.
